Hertswatch Executive Committee
HertsWatch represents the
views of Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) members across the
county. It meets quarterly or more frequently with representatives
from Hertfordshire Constabulary and the Police Authority,
to discuss matters of concern or interest, share best
practice and work to increase the effectiveness of NHW.
A lead NHW volunteer, a Community Co-ordinator (CCO),
from each of the ten County Districts, form the committee,
together with a senior Safer Neighbourhoods Police Officer,
the Herts NHW Project Manager and Officer and one or
more members of the Police Authority. The committee
is Chaired by a CCO elected by the committee. For 2009/2010,
this is Keith Batchelor (East Herts), with Arthur Howard
(Stevenage) as Vice Chair. Ian Colpitts (Welwyn Hatfield)
is Treasurer and Sue Thompson (Three Rivers) is Secretary.

HertsWatch was
launched in April 2005 by the Chief Constable of Hertfordshire,
Frank Whiteley following the results of of a NHW working
party made up of co-opted NHW members from across the
county, senior police officers and NHW project management.
The NHW Charter which underpins the commitment to NHW
by the Police, the Police Authority and Neighbourhood
Watch was signed by The Chief Constable, Frank Whiteley
The Chair of The Police Authority Ian Laidlaw-Dickson
and Dennis Cooper, then Chair of HertsWatch.
HertsWatch is
made up by representatives from 10 districts across
the county, members of the Police and Hertfordshire
Police Authority.
